VOLUNTEER AT THE BLOUNT COUNTY ANIMAL CENTER
The Blount County Animal Center is a 365 day a year operation and is staffed by County Center employees and volunteers.
The pawsibilities for volunteering are almost limitless at the center. Here are just a few:
- Assist in the Cattery- Love cats? We always need help socializing, feeding and cleaning.
- Walking Dogs- We have both large and small dog kennels and our dogs are walked several times a day.
- Small Dog Room – Opportunities exist to help socialize and clean.
- Large Dog Kennel – Opportunities exist to help socialize, train, and help clean.
- Administration – Answer phones, enter adoption information, greet the public and make them feel at home.
- General Cleaning – we are constantly cleaning, doing laundry using our commercial washers and dryer, doing dishes with our commercial dish machine, sweeping, mopping, folding laundry etc.
- Adoption Assistants – Meet with prospective adopters and help them find the perfect pet for their home and situation.
- Photography – Take pictures of our available animals and coordinate with Admin to have those pictures placed in Petfinder and the County Website.
- Transport Worker – Assist the Transport staff preparing paperwork, bathing, setting up the van for the trip, loading animals the day of transport, and cleaning the van after it returns.
How do you begin this adventure in volunteering? Just PRINT the application and liability forms and bring them with you to the Orientation. Orientation is held the first and third Saturday of each month at 10 am unless a County Holiday falls on the Saturday. It is held at the Blount County Operations Center, located at 1221 McArthur Road, Maryville TN 37804.
