Message from Mayor Mitchell
Goal

I want to personally welcome you to Blount County.  Whether you live here, work here or have just come by for a visit, I think you'll agree that Blount County is without a doubt one of the most beautiful places anywhere in the world. We are truly the gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the most visited National Park in America. It is an honor and a blessing to serve this County as Mayor.

Prior to being elected Mayor, I began my career in public service at the Blount County Sheriff's Office for four years, then moved to the City of Maryville and became a firefighter. I served as Fire Chief for the last 15 years of my career before retiring. I loved farming on our 6th generation farm, but put that hobby on hold to run for Mayor in 2010. I love this County and want to preserve all that is good for my children, grandchildren and for yours.

My goal is to work every day to maintain Blount County's beauty and integrity, keeping our County a place where our citizens receive an excellent education, obtain reliable employment, and have all the means they need to raise their families. Working closely with the leadership across the County and the State, we've been able to attract and recruit businesses and industries, bringing quality and dependable jobs for our citizens. We are a community that cares about each other and it shows in how we live our lives every day.
