Blount County is one of none (9) area agencies participating in a Diversity Business Expo on Thursday, March 14, 2019, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
This Diversity Business Expo is an opportunity for DBEs to meet directly with decision makers who purchase goods and services within their agency’s small dollar purchase thresholds. A DBE or Diversity Business Enterprise is a minority-owned, women-owned, service-disabled veterans-owned or small businesses.
Blount County Purchasing Agent Katie Branham-Kerr invites all business owners who are interested in doing business with local government to attend. “We offer a variety of opportunities for vendors, small and large, to do business with Blount County. Our annual Vendor Day and events like this Diversity Business Expo give any business an opportunity to share their services and products with us. Blount County Mayor Ed Mitchell and I welcome any opportunity to do business with a small business that qualifies as a DBE.”
In addition to Blount County, the agencies sponsoring this event include: the East Tennessee Purchasing Association, City of Knoxville, Knoxville’s Community Development Corporation (KCDC), Knox County, University of Tennessee, Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority, Knoxville Utility Board, and Knoxville/Knox County Public Building Authority. This expo will also include representatives of agencies that provide resources to diversity businesses, including Small Business Administration and the State of Tennessee GoDBE, Knoxville Urban League, SCORE, the Tennessee Small Business Development Center, Knoxville Chamber of Commerce and Knoxville Entrepreneur Center.
