Re:      BLOUNT COUNTY PROBATION

TRAINING CENTER OF THE YEAR AWARD RECIPIENT

BLOUNT COUNTY, TN

Blount County Mayor, Ed Mitchell, is proud to announce that Blount County Probation received the National Safety Council Training Center of the Year Award for their Defensive Driving Course.

Last year, more than 40,000 people died on U.S. roadways due to vehicle crashes. The National Safety Council trains more than a million drivers each year with its defensive driving programs, which supports the organization’s mission of eliminating preventable deaths. The Council annually recognizes top Training Centers for most drivers trained.

“Congratulations to the Blount County Probation team for being a recipient of the National Safety Council Training Center of the Year Award for their Defensive Driving 4-hour course. Their trainers have been teaching this course for over seven years and are members of the National Safety Council and the Tennessee Safety and Health Council.”  - Gina Jones, Executive Director of TN Safety & Health Council

Blount County Probation is comprised of ten staff members, and eight of those staff members are certified Driving School instructors. All staff members play a huge role in the Driving School Program and work very hard from the registration of students to the instruction of the class. During the 2018-2019 fiscal year, Blount County Probation instructed approximately 1010 students. Each Driving School student leaves class with a better understanding and awareness to become a safer driver.

Mayor Mitchell says “We are honored to have such valuable employees working for Blount County and serving our citizens. I want to thank Joni Seratt and her staff at Blount County Probation for their leadership, their dedication in advancing the shared mission of the National Safety Council, and for their daily service to our citizens.”
