Re:  Blount County

Blount County Government has provided 6 AEDs to the Blount County Fire Protection District today.  These AED’s were able to be purchased as a direct result of the County’s contract with AMR.

Blount County Fire Protection District is one of the 10 Blount County agencies who will be receiving needed emergency medical equipment and supplies over the next several weeks.

Chief Doug McClanahan stated, “These AEDs could not have come at a better time.  The ones we have in the field at this time are in need of replacement.”

Mayor Ed Mitchell says, “While I hope these AEDs will never need to be used, I am proud that we are able to put new and up-to-date equipment in the hands of first responders.  I also appreciate AMR and their continued efforts to provide quality services to the citizens of our County.  The agreement reached with Rural Metro continues to raise the standard of emergency medical services for our County.  AMR has rose to the challenges and I hope the citizens see that lives are being saved because of our collaborative efforts.”

Press Release questions can be directed to the Blount County Mayor’s office at 273-5700.
