Our new Blount County Recycling Convenience Center has now been open for a month. This has been a success in every measure and is being steadily utilized by our citizens.
Therefore, as planned, the temporary bins that have been located at the Blount County Library will be removed. Those bins will remain in place until January 12, 2018. All County recycling will be now received at the new location.
“We encourage all of our citizens to take their recycling items to the new location off Levi Street,” says Mayor Ed Mitchell. “We appreciate the patience of the citizens while we worked out the details of opening this new facility. The Highway Department has designed this facility to serve the needs of our citizens and can handle multiple vehicles at one time with little to no waiting.”
Highway Superintendent Jeff Headrick states, “Since we opened the facility, we are seeing a steady flow of citizens dropping off their recycling items. We hope more citizens will take the opportunity to use this facility for their recycling needs. It is a very user-friendly facility.”
The Blount County Recycling Convenience Center is accessed through Levi Street adjacent to the Blount County Operations Center off McArthur Road. Hours of operations will be Tuesdays, Thursdays & Saturdays from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm at which times an employee will be on-site.
