Domestic Violence Unit
The office also has a Domestic Violence Unit which works closely with
community agencies, law enforcement, and the judicial system to ensure
victims' needs are addressed while ensuring the prosecution of
offenders. Through prevention, the unit is involved with educating law
enforcement, the judicial system, and community about domestic violence
and its impact on families and community. The unit is also actively
involved with organizations promoting domestic violence awareness.
Child Support Division
There
is also a Child Support Division whose objectives are to enforce
support obligations owed by absent parents to their children, locate
absent parents, establish paternity, and obtain child and medical
support. The division provides support enforcement services to
individuals who are receiving federally-funded Foster Care Maintenance
payments, Medicaid, Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC) and
to individuals not otherwise eligible for such services.
