We are excited to announce that we accept GLASS!

The blue dumpster for glass is located in the parking area by the Recycle Office.

DO NOT PUT IT IN THE SINGLE STREAM COMPACTOR

Any size, type or color, no separation necessary. Please remove lids and trash first.

Shredded Paper:

Shredded paper must be enclosed in a paper bag to be recycled. If it is not enclosed (either by rolling it up tight or stapling it shut to prevent it from opening) it will not be recycled since it is too small to be captured in the system and will just end up falling through cracks and being landfilled. Shredded paper should not be enclosed in plastic bags or cardboard boxes—paper bags only. Paper bags are recycled in the same way as shredded paper is so that is why paper bags are best.

The Blount County Recycle Center is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 8:00am - 4:30pm. We are Located at 331 Levi Street, one street down from the Blount County Operations Center off of McArthur Rd. Attention!
Please do not throw your household trash in the recycle containers. We are a "Recycle" facility, not a garbage dump. If you see someone throwing trash in the containers please help us keep our facility open and clean by letting the Attendant know.

We have lots of information listed on signage and fliers to help you know what items we accept, if you are unsure PLEASE see the Attendant.

Thanks to the support of our community since we opened December 2017 we have been able to collect enough recyclable material to extend the life of the landfill by more than 3 years!!

We do NOT accept Plastic Bags, Bubble Wrap or Styrofoam of any kind.
PLEASE do not bring these items to the Recycle Center as we have no way to recycle them.

Recycle Center Accepted Items

Bulbs and Paints
We are now accepting 4ft and 8ft intact "Fluorescent Bulbs" and "Oil Based Paints" for recycling.
PLEASE NOTE: Latex or water based paints are NOT recyclable. Dry the paint with kitty litter, sawdust, etc. then dispose of in trash.

For your convenience there is a drop box for your unwanted prescription medications located at the Blount County Justice Center in the 24hr lobby, 940 E. Lamar Alexander Pkwy.
