Our Goal

Our goal is to serve the Courts and citizens of Blount County through accurate recordkeeping, effective case management and dependable financial stewardship, while providing clear, accessible, and courteous assistance to everyone who interacts with our office.

How We Serve Blount County

The Clerk & Master’s Office oversees all cases filed in the Chancery, Circuit Equity, General Sessions Domestic, and General Sessions Probate Courts of Blount County, Tennessee.

We assist the general public, law enforcement and law professionals with public records requests, the collection of court costs, delinquent tax matters, the filing of new cases, and managing court records. We also provide essential support to the Judges and their staff in the operation of the Courts.

Our office handles the filing of civil matters including, but not limited to:

  • Divorce
  • Probate
  • Conservatorships and guardianships
  • Real estate matters
  • Contract disputes
  • Adoptions
  • Name changes

Additionally, our office is responsible for the collection and maintenance of records related to delinquent property taxes filed by:

  • The Blount County Trustee
  • The City of Maryville
  • The City of Alcoa

Our office also conducts the annual auction of properties resulting from nonpayment of property taxes.

As Special Commissioner, the Clerk & Master conducts judicial real estate sales as ordered by the Courts. All actions taken in these roles must be confirmed by the appropriate Court. In all lawsuits, the Clerk & Master is responsible for billing and collecting state and county litigation taxes and court costs. This office also reports to the State of Tennessee regarding the collection of litigation taxes and the classification of each type of lawsuit filed.
