Items Renew Automatically
Items eligible for renewal do so automatically up to three times before fines start accruing.
Renewal is not possible if:
- Another patron has placed a reserve on an item
- The item has reached its renewal limit (three times)
- Your card or a juvenile card attached to your account has projected fines of $4.99 or more
- Your library card has expired
Notices
Items will renew one day before the due date. You will be notified either via email or text, depending on the communication preferences you selected when signing up for your library card.
To change your communication preferences, please call the library at 865-982-0981 during regular business hours to speak with a Patron Services staff member. Be sure to have your library card ready when you call.
When in doubt, check your account!
If you are unsure about the due date or status of an item on your account, go to the Library Catalog or download our BCPL mobile app and log in to your account.
From there, you will be able to see what items you have checked out, when they are due, how many times they have been renewed, and what fines are currently charged to your account.
